Iditarod 2025 - This was my first time volunteering on the Iditarod. There was not enough snow on the standard route so a late decision was made to start the race in Fairbanks. So our checkpoint was at the village of Manley Hot Springs.
BUT, before we traveled up to Manley we had time to attend the ceremonial race start in Anchorage, and also goof around in town at the Fur Rondy festival for some ice bowling and general fun.

Now we travel first up to Fairbanks bright & early Sunday morning. David made it out on trail Sunday afternoon but Alexa and I didn't make the cut. So we spent the night in Fairbanks and flew out to Manley Monday morning.
Alexa knows most of the Iditarod Air Force pilots from her time supporting logistics on the race. She got to fly us part of the way from Fairbanks to Manley.
Ok, we are finally to Manley!
And to the actual checkpoint.
Early morning wake up call, we are expecting our first team into the checkpoint around 6AM.
